The culminating activity for the senior arts students was an art show held in the art room at lunch this Tuesday. Thanks to the students who shared their work and artist's statement. Thanks to all the teachers and students who came out to see the creations.

Mr. Heidebrecht dropped in to see what the senior art students were working on. Charlotte's personal story board is a clever, symbolic representation of her self reflection.

This morning and on my way home there were five trumpeter swans handing around on the ice at Trout Lake. I was worried their feet were frozen there but eventually they moved a little. Note to self. Put big lens in the car for tomorrow just in case they are still there.

So many interesting creations! We fired the clay in the kiln at Pender and then it was glazed by Linda White-France a potter in Sechelt. Then it was fired again at a very high temperature for 13 hours.

At lunch and after school today Melissa Woodward of Friesens Yearbook Company gave us some tips about our yearbook. The yearbook committee is a very cohesive, creative group open to constructive criticism. We don't always think the same but the dialogue is very respectful and we usually end up with some great ideas.  This will likely make for another great Pender yearbook. We need to submit 32 pages for the beginning of February so the heat is on! Tomorrow we will try to get group photos for the 9s, 10s, 11s and 12s.

The Grade 7 and 8 Art class started etchings today. The first images were First Nations art on small plexiglass donated by Instaglass and cut by Luke and Mr. Walls.
